At Castle Creek, we strive to provide our local community with fresh, all natural produce. We take great pride in nurturing the earth in order to enjoy it rewards. Chemical free farming is not common these days. It takes a great deal of time and labor to raise fruits and vegetables this way. And we would have it no other way.
Jerimiah Hinz, started Castle Creek Family Farm in May 2011. He had a vision of feeding the community fresh produce. Not just fresh produce, but all natural, chemical free produce like the delicious foods he was raised on while growing up on the farm. In 2011, Castle Creek Family Farm sold vegetables and some fruit at the Vermillion Area Farmer's Market in Vermillion, SD and the Sioux City Farmer's Market in Sioux City, IA. CSA shares were introduced to the business in 2012. It was a huge success in the following years and continues to be a huge part of the business.
The farm is located near Newcastle, Nebraska on about ten acres of creek bottom ground. Some of the old John Deere tractors that were first used on the farm 40+ years ago are still used today to do most of the soil work. It can be challenging keeping some of the old equipment running.
